Our team at iphonek.com surveyed the applications sold through iTunes and came across a number of interesting statistics. In this article we focus on companies that have a large number of applications in Apps Store.

GP Apps
Number of Applications: 250+
Focus Area: Based on its number of applications, this company seems to be one of the most innovative to date. They also have applications in the largest number of categories.

Price Range: Almost all of the applications on GP Apps are priced at $0.99 with only one application being offered for free. So, if you are like me and are really after free applications, GP Apps will not be easy to find.

As of Feb 21, 2009, Turkish-English QuicknEasy Translator apps became the #1 paid apps in App Store.  Just one observation: this company doesn’t seem to have expended much effort in keeping their website user-friendly and well organized.

 

IndiaNIC, LLC
Number of Applications:200
Focus Area:This Company seems to have found its niche in application development. They have been focusing on spiritual reference books which encompass almost all the religions.

Price Range:The price of IndiaNIC’s applications seems to vary from $0.99 to $7.99.  Incidentally, IndiaNIC is following the strategy of other companies by offering one free application.

 

Paragon Software Group
Number of Applications: 175+
Focus Area: Paragon Software Group is focused on providing dictionaries for various languages. While browsing their inventory of applications, I didn’t find a single application which was not dictionary-related.

About the Company: Paragon Software Group is an international holding company with branch offices in Germany, Russia, Japan and the United States.  Founded in 1994, Paragon is known for its diversified product development with applications that support a wide variety of mobile devices including Android, Blackberry, iPhone, iPod Touch, Java, Windows Mobile, Symbian OS and Palm OS.

Price Range: From a pricing perspective, Paragon clearly prefers luxury applications as their prices start at $9.99 and go all the way up to $59.99.  Needless to say, Paragon does not offer any free applications.

Focus Area: As the name suggests, Innovative Language Learning is focused on providing audio lessons for learning various languages.

Price Range: Innovative Language Learning offers free “lite” applications for most languages which are intended to demonstrate just how effective this type of application can be. Most of the other applications are priced at $0.99.  At that price, these are certainly worth a try rather than spending hundreds of dollars on Rosettanet.

 

Renkara Media Group, Inc.
Number of Applications: 150+
Focus Area: Renkara is quite similar to Innovative Language Learning in that it is focused on providing applications for learning new languages.

Price Range: Approximately 90% of the applications offered by Renkara are priced at $14.99; all other applications are priced at $4.99.

 

Appsessions, LLC
Number of Applications: 100+
Focus Area: The applications from Appsessions concentrate on entertainment and education and are in the form of audio books and study guides. You will find a number of study guides for various standard tests such as MCAT, TOFEL, SAT, GRE, etc.

Price Range: Almost all the audio books offered by Appsessions are priced at $0.99 while the study guides are priced at $14.99 or more.

 

JewishContent.org
Number of Applications: 100+
Focus Area: As the name suggests, these are reference applications for Judaism, many in both Hebrew and English.

Price Range: Most of the applications provided by JewishContent.org are free.

 

DMBC
Number of Applications: Approximately 100
Focus Area: DMBC provides applications from various genres including iPhone e-books, games, business and finance applications, etc.

Price Range:  Roughly 80% of DMBC’s applications are priced at $0.99 and prices of the remaining applications vary.  Currently, DMBC offers six applications at no charge.

 

Chillingo Ltd
Number of Applications: Approximately 100
Focus Area: Chillingo focuses on “lite” gaming applications but they also offer other genre applications including utilities, educational apps and many more.

Price Range: A few gaming applications are free but the remaining applications are priced from $0.99 to $6.99.

Number of Applications:  Approximately 100
Focus Area: This company offers travel guides for many popular and famous travel destinations.

Price Range: All the applications provided by Sehat Rosny are priced at $0.99.
